Irfan Dia vs Kieran Frimpong

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Ghana-Northern Ghana promoted show at Tamale Bawuah, Tamale,  taking place on 17/08/2043:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Ghana Cruiserweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on bTV Action, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Irfan Dia (18(15) - 9(4)) who hails from Tamale, Ghana and Kieran Frimpong(36(3) - 11(2) - 2) from Kumasi, Ghana.  Dia weighed in at 199 pounds and 5 ounces, while Frimpong weighed in at 200 pounds and 9 ounces.    As Frimpong came in over the weight limit, only his opponent will be able to compete for the titles on the line tonight.  
The referee tonight is Nabulung Akamenya, and the three ringside judges are Tamarius Moyoyo, Rich Burja and John Anyidoho.  

Round 1: 

Dia is on target with a jab.  
Frimpong is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Dia lands a jab to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Frimpong is looking to keep his distance and attempts to land a jab, but Dia sidesteps and counters with a right hook.

Dia drives a right hook into Frimpong's body.  
Frimpong cuts off the ring, trapping Dia on the ropes.  Frimpong hits home with a cross.  
Dia finds the target with a stiff jab.

Dia lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.

Dia forces Frimpong to retreat onto the ropes.  Dia pivots to the right of his opponent.  Frimpong lands a left hook.  
Dia lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Dia lands a left uppercut to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Dia holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Dia pushes his forearm into Frimpong's face.  The referee warns Dia and breaks the clinch.  
Dia lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head.  Frimpong now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Dia is on target with a jab.

Frimpong is on target with a left hook.  
Dia gets on the inside and digs in a sharp left uppercut to Frimpong's ribs.  
Dia closes the distance and lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Frimpong's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Frimpong quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Dia lands three consecutive right hooks to his opponents ribs, AND SENDS FRIMPONG TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  Dia clinches his opponent.  Dia leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Dia pushes his forearm into Frimpong's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Frimpong lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Frimpong lands a right hook.  Frimpong attempts to land a jab, but Dia slips the shot and counters with a firm cross.  
Dia gets on the inside and drives a telling right hook into Frimpong's ribs.  FRIMPONG WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  
Frimpong could be stopped here, if Dia can find the right shot!  Dia lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND SENDS FRIMPONG TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 7.  
Dia advances into close range and forces Frimpong to back into a neutral corner.  Dia lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a left uppercut to the head.  He continues the combination and lands three consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents body.  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Dia!
