Gareth Holmes vs Ian Walls

Boxing Daily Report from the Guyana National Finals 2042,  taking place on 26/03/2042 from Linden, Guyana:

The Linden venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Light Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Gareth Holmes (6 - 10) who hails from Georgetown, Guyana and Ian Walls(35 - 10) from Georgetown, Guyana.  

Round 1: 

Walls lands a jab, overhand right and a jab to his opponents head.  
Holmes lands a cross.  
Walls is on target with a jab.  
Walls gets on the inside.  Walls sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook.  
Holmes is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Walls cuts off the ring, trapping Holmes on the ropes.  Walls quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  He then lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Walls sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Walls throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Walls gets on the inside.  Walls leans back on the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Holmes tries to tag Walls on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  Holmes is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Holmes steps to the outside.  Holmes sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Walls lands with a ramrod jab.  
Walls is looking to close the distance.  Holmes sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Walls connects with a left hook.  
Walls lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Walls is looking to close the distance.  Holmes pivots to the side of his opponent, but Walls lands a left hook.  
Walls is looking to keep the action on the outside and hits home with a firm cross.  
Holmes quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent, but Walls lands a hard jab.  
Walls advances into close range.  Holmes pivots from in front of his opponent and drives a right hook into Walls's body.  
Holmes is looking to keep his distance.  Walls is on target with a ramrod jab.  
Walls steps inside and hits home with a right uppercut.  Walls throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Walls gets on the inside and tries to land a right uppercut, but Holmes slips the shot and counters with a firm left hook.

Holmes sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Holmes tries to land a cross, but Walls blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Walls gets on the inside.  Holmes pivots to the right of his opponent.  Holmes throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action and gives Walls time to recover.

Holmes sidesteps to the right of his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Holmes steps away from his opponent and hits home with a stinging jab.  
Walls is on target with a sharp cross.  Walls tries to land a jab, but Holmes dodges the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
Walls switches the action to the outside and is on target with an overhand right.  
Walls lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Holmes drives a right hook into Walls's ribs.

Holmes pivots to the side of his opponent.  Holmes throws a left uppercut, but Walls ties up his opponent.  Holmes leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Holmes is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Walls is looking to close the distance and hits home with a right hook.  Walls attempts to land a left hook, but Holmes blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Walls lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Holmes sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left uppercut.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Holmes's trainer is telling his fighter he needs a knockout to win!  Walls's trainer is advising his fighter to keep his distance and coast to the win.
