Chike Matongo vs Faraji Shumba

Boxing Daily Report from the Zimbabwe National Finals 2038,  taking place on 26/04/2038 from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe:

The Bulawayo venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Lightweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Chike Matongo (22(6) - 4) who hails from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and Faraji Shumba(8 - 11(1)) from Harare, Zimbabwe.  

Round 1: 

Matongo closes the distance.  Shumba connects with a sharp left hook.  
Matongo connects with a sharp left hook.  Matongo holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Matongo pushes his forearm into Shumba's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Matongo.  
Matongo closes the distance and lands two left hook's to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Matongo manouvers his opponent into the red corner.  Matongo is on target with a solid left hook.  
Matongo digs in a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Shumba lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Matongo closes the distance and connects with a stinging right hook.  
Matongo lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Matongo hits home with a solid right hook.  
Matongo tries to land a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Matongo walks Shumba down, trapping him on the ropes.  Matongo lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Shumba pivots to the side of his opponent.  Shumba attempts to land a jab, but Matongo sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Shumba lands a left uppercut.  
Shumba pivots to the left of his opponent and is on target with a solid jab.  
Matongo lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Matongo is on target with a solid left hook to his opponents body.  
Matongo walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Shumba throws a left uppercut, but Matongo ties up his opponent.  Matongo is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. Matongo tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Shumba behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Matongo about fouling.  
Matongo pivots to the right of his opponent.  Matongo hits home with a stinging left uppercut.  Matongo holds on to his opponent.  Shumba pushes his forearm into Matongo's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Matongo closes the distance and lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Matongo clinches his opponent.  Matongo leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Matongo hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. 
It looks like Shumba has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Shumba lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Shumba quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Shumba attempts to land a jab, but Matongo sidesteps and counters with a firm cross.  
Shumba throws a left hook, but Matongo clinches his opponent.  Matongo is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. Matongo tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Shumba behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Matongo about fouling.

Matongo throws a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a sharp left uppercut.  
Matongo drives a solid left hook into Shumba's body.  
Matongo is on target with a firm left hook.  
Matongo lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Matongo senses Shumba is in trouble...he is looking to finish him off!  Matongo drives a telling right uppercut into Shumba's body.  SHUMBA HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  
Matongo digs in a potent right hook to his opponents body.  SHUMBA HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  Shumba now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Matongo is on target with a left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Matongo digs in a stinging right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Matongo is looking to close the distance and is on target with a right hook to Shumba's ribcage.  
Shumba steps to the outside and throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging cross.  
Shumba sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a jab followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Matongo steps inside.  Matongo sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body, AND DOWN GOES SHUMBA!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  
Matongo is looking for the shot to finish his opponent.  Matongo crashes a DEVASTATING left uppercut to Shumba's ribs.  SHUMBA IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  THE REF DOES NOT GIVE SHUMBA THE CHANCE TO BEAT THE COUNT...HE'S STOPPING THE FIGHT!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Matongo!
