John Payne vs Matt Curvis

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-Utah promoted show at Richie Akins Gym, Salt Lake City,  taking place on 30/07/2037:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the USA-Utah Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are John Payne (9 - 16(1) - 3) who hails from Salt Lake City, USA and Matt Curvis(32(13) - 4(3)) from West Valley City, USA.  Payne weighed in at 140 pounds and 13 ounces, while Curvis weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Jordan Burke, and the three ringside judges are Neil Probert, Neil Probert and Justin Lloyd.  

Round 1: 

Curvis advances into close range and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Curvis pivots to the left of his opponent and connects with a solid left hook.  
Curvis sidesteps to the right of his opponent and connects with a stinging cross.  
Curvis closes the distance and drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Curvis closes the distance and lands a right uppercut to the body, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  Curvis clinches his opponent.  Curvis hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Curvis walks Payne down, trapping him in the corner.  Curvis sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Curvis lands a left hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the body.  Curvis clinches his opponent.  Curvis throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. 
Curvis is on target with a right hook to Payne's ribs.  
Curvis lands a cross, jab and a cross to his opponents head.  
Curvis closes the distance and lands a left hook, left uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body.  
Curvis throws a right uppercut, but the shot is blocked.  Curvis holds on to his opponent.  Curvis pushes his forearm into Payne's face.  The referee warns Curvis and breaks the clinch.  
Curvis lands a hard jab.  
Curvis lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Curvis lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  Curvis clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Curvis pushes his forearm into Payne's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Curvis lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  He then lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Curvis lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Curvis dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Curvis is on target with a firm right hook to Payne's ribs.  
Payne connects with a cross.  Payne tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Curvis gets on the inside.  Payne pivots to the left of his opponent.  Curvis lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Payne attempts to land a right hook, but Curvis blocks the shot and counters with a potent cross.  PAYNE IS HURT!  Payne recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Curvis steps inside.  Curvis backs onto the ropes...he is waving his opponent in!  Payne is whaling away with hooks, but Curvis keeps his defence tight.  
Curvis lands two left uppercuts followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Curvis ties up his opponent.  Curvis is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Curvis lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Curvis is looking to close the distance and throws a left uppercut, but the shot is blocked.  Curvis holds on to his opponent.  Curvis is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Payne switches the action to the outside.  Payne quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a cross.  
Curvis is on target with a jab.  
Payne steps away from his opponent and lands a cross.  
Curvis lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Payne's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Payne's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Payne's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Curvis knows it could take just a few clean shots to force the stoppage.  Curvis lands a cross followed by a right hook to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS PAYNE DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.  It looks like Payne has now recovered from that shot earlier.  
Payne lands two consecutive overhand lefts to his opponents head.  
Curvis is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.
