Greg Cowden vs Leon Gilkison

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at First Avenue, Minneapolis,  taking place on 08/08/2036:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Greg Cowden (1 - 0) who hails from Cedar Rapids, USA and Leon Gilkison(3 - 0 - 1) from Los Angeles, USA.  Both Cowden and Gilkison weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Phil Bertel, and the three ringside judges are Ian Soderberg, Charlie Genz and David Scholar.  

Round 1: 

Cowden is on target with a jab.  
Cowden gets on the inside and hits home with a right hook.  
Cowden gets on the inside and walks Gilkison down, trapping him in the corner.  Cowden pivots to the left of his opponent and connects with a stinging right hook.

Gilkison is looking to keep his distance.  Cowden is keeping his hands low...it looks like he wants his opponent to throw first.  Gilkison throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a sharp left hook.  
Cowden gets on the inside and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Cowden drives a right uppercut into his opponents ribcage.  Cowden holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Cowden pushes his forearm into Gilkison's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Cowden lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Cowden manouvers his opponent into the blue corner.  Cowden feints a right, and then lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Cowden snaps his opponents head back with a stinging jab.  
Cowden advances into close range.  Gilkison tries to land a right hook, but Cowden slips the shot and counters with a stinging cross.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Gilkison's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Gilkison's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Gilkison's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Gilkison dabs at his face checking for damage.
