Lucas Charles vs Duncan Wathen

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Wellington promoted show at Wellington Haukamau, Wellington,  taking place on 14/06/2036:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the New Zealand-Wellington Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Lucas Charles (26(12) - 3 - 1) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Duncan Wathen(17 - 11(5) - 3) from Wellington, New Zealand.  Both Charles and Wathen weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Barry Christeson, and the three ringside judges are Barry Ramage, Mel Binner and Kyle Kidd.

Charles steps inside.  Charles sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Charles pivots from in front of his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Charles drives a left uppercut into Wathen's liver.  
Wathen pivots to the right of his opponent.  Charles lands a stiff jab.  
Charles is on target with a stinging cross.  
Charles is on target with a stinging right hook to Wathen's ribcage.  
Wathen closes the distance.  Charles hits home with a firm right hook.  
Charles lands a left uppercut.  
Charles is looking to keep his distance.  Charles feints a left, and then lands a cross followed by  two jabs to his opponents head.  
Wathen forces Charles to back into the ropes.  Charles lands a right uppercut to the head followed by two right hook's to the body.  
Wathen advances into close range and lands a right uppercut.

Wathen advances into close range.  Wathen pivots to the left of his opponent and attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Charles's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Charles's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Wathen's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Charles is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Charles lands a cross to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Charles lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Wathen is looking to close the distance.  Charles lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Charles is looking to keep his distance and hits home with a firm cross.  
Charles throws a right hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Wathen feints a left hook, and then finds the target with a jab.  
Charles lands with a stiff jab.  
Wathen is looking to close the distance.  Wathen pivots from in front of his opponent.  Charles drives a solid left uppercut into Wathen's body.

Charles gets on the inside and lands a left uppercut to the body, a right hook to the head and a left uppercut to the body, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
The right shot from Charles could be enough to force the stoppage!  Charles lands a cross followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  He then lands a cross followed by a left hook to his opponents head, AND WATHEN IS DOWN!  He manages to get up at 7.  
Wathen now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Wathen walks Charles down, trapping him on the ropes.  Wathen pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a cross.  
Wathen advances into close range.  Charles drives a stinging left hook into his opponents ribs.

Charles lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Charles throws a cross, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a cross.  
Charles switches the action to the outside and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Charles tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Charles gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Wathen sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Wathen throws a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Charles steps to the outside and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
Wathen gets on the inside.  Charles is looking to force the stoppage!  Charles lands a right hook to the head, a left uppercut to the body and a right hook to the head, AND DOWN GOES WATHEN!  He isnt going to beat the count!  The winner by KO is Charles!
