Phil Gilchrist vs Jax Escalona

Boxing Daily Report from the Smokin Joe promoted show at Rogers Center, Toronto,  taking place on 25/01/2035:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Shotgun Phil Gilchrist (41(23) - 1 - 1) who hails from Brampton, Canada and Jax Escalona(26(1) - 13(4)) from Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.  Both Gilchrist and Escalona weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is David Mason, and the three ringside judges are Brin Somerville, Joel Griffin and Sam Lockerby.  

Round 1: 

Escalona tries to land an overhand right, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid left hook.

Escalona throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Escalona.  
Gilchrist steps to the outside and lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  He then lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Gilchrist lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a jab to the head followed by a right hook to the body.

Escalona steps inside.  Gilchrist throws a right hook, but misses the target.  Gilchrist clinches his opponent.  Gilchrist leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Escalona is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Gilchrist's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Gilchrist steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.

Escalona walks his opponent onto the ropes.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Gilchrist dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Gilchrist steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Escalona walks Gilchrist down, trapping him in the corner.  Gilchrist lands a right hook, jab and a cross to his opponents head.  
Escalona sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Escalona throws a left hook, but Gilchrist ties up his opponent.  Escalona pushes his forearm into Gilchrist's face.  The referee warns Escalona and breaks the clinch.  
Gilchrist steps away from his opponent and strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Gilchrist switches the action to the outside and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Escalona tries to land a right hook, but Gilchrist slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Gilchrist lands a spiteful jab.  Gilchrist attempts to land a jab, but Escalona slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Escalona tries to land a right uppercut, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Escalona steps inside and lands a right uppercut.  
Gilchrist lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross followed by  two overhand rights to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Escalona quickly recovers.

The referee breaks up the clinch and lectures Gilchrist to stop holding.

Gilchrist lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a straight 1 - 2.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Escalona quickly recovers. 
Gilchrist tries to keep the action at long range and lands a cross, jab and a cross to his opponents head, KNOCKING ESCALONA DOWN!  He is unable to get up before the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Gilchrist!
