Jonathan Matherson vs John Ellis

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids,  taking place on 08/04/2034:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Jonathan Matherson (0 - 0) who hails from Boston, USA and John Ellis(2 - 0) from Portland, USA.  Both Matherson and Ellis weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Sam Vannett, and the three ringside judges are Leon Russell, Leeroy Shedden and John Kennan.  

Round 1: 

Matherson gets on the inside and digs in a right uppercut to his opponents body.  Matherson ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Matherson pushes his forearm into Ellis's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Matherson.

Matherson lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Matherson walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Matherson digs in a right hook to Ellis's ribs.  
Matherson closes the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  Matherson holds on to his opponent.  Matherson is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.

That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.
