Duncan Wathen vs Oscar Materoa

Boxing Daily Report from the Kiwi Boxing Academy promoted show at Auckland Bonar, Auckland,  taking place on 15/01/2034:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Duncan Wathen (15 - 10(4) - 2) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Oscar Materoa(21(1) - 9(2)) from North Shore, New Zealand.  Both Wathen and Materoa weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Declan Haturini, and the three ringside judges are Chris Kellie, Dale Mostyn and Ellis Raharuhi.  

Round 1: 

Materoa closes the distance and digs in a stinging right hook to his opponents body.  
Materoa lands a double left hook to his opponents head.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Materoa has been damaged by the clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
