Ponce Laurel vs Marco Gumila

Boxing Daily Report from the Kaiche Promotions promoted show at Dillon Manglona Gym, Zamboanga City,  taking place on 08/01/2027:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Philippines-Zamboanga del Sur Super Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ponce Laurel (13 - 9 - 1) who hails from Zamboanga City, Philippines and Marco Gumila(7 - 2 - 4) from Pagadian, Philippines.  Both Laurel and Gumila weighed in at 122 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Santiago Caluag, and the three ringside judges are Ximen Tavera, Pedro Metro and Joaquin Sierra.  

Round 1: 

Gumila gets on the inside.  Laurel pivots to the side of his opponent.  Gumila is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Laurel is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Gumila is on target with a cross to Laurel's body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Laurel's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Laurel's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Gumila manouvers Laurel into a corner.  Laurel wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Gumila dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Gumila walks Laurel onto the ropes.  Laurel is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Gumila is on target with a left hook.  
Laurel is on target with a right uppercut.  
Laurel switches the action to the outside and lands a cross.  
Gumila is looking to close the distance and manouvers his opponent into the red corner.  Laurel throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Gumila steps inside.  Laurel lands a left hook.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Laurel's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Gumila throws a left hook, but misses the target.  Gumila holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Gumila pushes his forearm into Laurel's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Gumila.  
Laurel pivots to the right of his opponent.  Laurel attempts to land a right uppercut, but Gumila sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Gumila gets on the inside.  Laurel pivots to the left of his opponent.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Gumila dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Gumila gets on the inside and walks his opponent down, trapping him in the corner.  Gumila throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action and gives Laurel time to recover.  
Laurel pivots from in front of his opponent.  Gumila hits home with a left hook.  
Laurel tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with an overhand right.  
Gumila gets on the inside.  Laurel digs in a right hook to Gumila's ribcage.  
At the end of Round 3, lets listen in on the corners...Gumila's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.

Gumila throws a left hook, but misses the target.  Gumila clinches his opponent.  Laurel hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Laurel to stop fouling.  
Gumila closes the distance.  Laurel voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Gumila steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  
Gumila is looking to close the distance.  As Gumila tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Laurel dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Laurel steps to the outside and lands a cross followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Gumila advances into close range and throws a left uppercut, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  Gumila holds on to his opponent.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Gumila feints a jab, fooling Laurel into launching a left uppercut counter.  Gumila springs the trap and counters with  a cross.  
Laurel hits home with a cross.  
Gumila gets on the inside.  Laurel connects with a left hook.  Gumila clinches his opponent.  Gumila leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.
