Brad Newlands vs Dave Lockerby

Boxing Daily Report from the Guyana National Finals 2036,  taking place on 29/03/2036 from Linden, Guyana:

The Linden venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Semi Final fight in the Welterweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Brad Newlands (2 - 4(2)) who hails from Georgetown, Guyana and Dave Lockerby(7 - 5) from Georgetown, Guyana.  

Round 1: 

Newlands feints a cross, and then lands a jab.  
Lockerby advances into close range and digs in a left uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Newlands tries to step out of his opponents range and tries to land a jab, but Lockerby sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Lockerby drives a left hook into Newlands's body.  
Lockerby closes the distance.  Newlands throws a right hook, but Lockerby ties up his opponent.  Lockerby is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Lockerby about fouling.  
Newlands throws a left hook, but Lockerby holds on to his opponent.  Lockerby leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Lockerby's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Newlands is looking to keep the action on the outside and hits home with a cross.  
Lockerby cuts off the ring, trapping Newlands in the corner.  Newlands throws a right hook, but the shot is blocked.  Lockerby ties up his opponent.  Newlands uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Lockerby behind the head. 
Lockerby advances into close range and digs in a solid right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Lockerby advances into close range and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Lockerby manouvers his opponent into the corner.  Newlands is on target with a left hook.  
Lockerby connects with a stinging left uppercut.  
Lockerby slams a hurtful left hook into Newlands's liver.  IT LOOKS LIKE NEWLANDS WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Newlands recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Lockerby sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Lockerby digs in a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Newlands connects with a right hook.  
Lockerby lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Lockerby drives a solid right hook into his opponents body.  
Lockerby lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Lockerby lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Newlands recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Lockerby connects with a right uppercut.  
Newlands steps away from his opponent and lands with a hard jab.

Lockerby lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Lockerby walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Newlands connects with a right hook.  
Newlands steps away from his opponent and throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a stinging right uppercut.  
Newlands hits home with a sharp jab.  
Newlands hits the target with a solid jab.  
Lockerby crashes a nasty right hook to his opponents body.  NEWLANDS IS HURT!  
Lockerby manouvers his opponent into the blue corner.  Lockerby is looking to force the stoppage!  Lockerby crashes a big left hook to his opponents body.  NEWLANDS IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  It looks like Newlands has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.

Newlands steps to the outside and lands a spiteful jab.  
Lockerby lands a left hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  Lockerby holds on to his opponent.  Lockerby leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Lockerby digs in a stinging left hook to his opponents body.  
Lockerby throws a left hook, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  Lockerby holds on to his opponent.  Lockerby leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Lockerby lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
Lockerby knows Newlands is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  Lockerby lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents ribs, AND KNOCKS NEWLANDS DOWN!  He makes it to one knee, but is unable to rise any further as the ref counts 10!  The winner by KO is Lockerby!
