Ryo Shima vs Paul McColgan

Boxing Daily Report from the Amateur Boxing Club Challenge,  taking place on 20/07/2034 from Tokyo, Japan:

The Tokyo venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  


Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are Ryo Shima (34(5) - 19) who hails from Machida, Japan and Paul McColgan(2 - 2) from Geelong, Australia.  

Round 1: 

McColgan hits home with a firm cross.  
Shima advances into close range and hits home with a stinging right uppercut.  
Shima lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Shima pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Shima forces McColgan to retreat onto the ropes.  Shima sidesteps to the left of his opponent and digs in a sharp left hook to his opponents body.  
Shima is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
McColgan hits home with a left uppercut.  
Shima closes the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  He follows up the attack and lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Shima finds the target with a jab.  
McColgan switches the action to the outside and is on target with a jab.  
Shima walks his opponent down, trapping him in a corner.  Shima lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Shima is on target with a right hook.  
Shima advances into close range and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  Shima clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Shima pushes his forearm into McColgan's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
McColgan sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  McColgan throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid right hook.  
Shima lands a right uppercut to the head, a right hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Shima advances into close range.  Shima quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and digs in a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Shima manouvers McColgan into the corner.  Shima digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  
Shima lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  Shima holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, McColgan pushes his forearm into Shima's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures McColgan about fouling.  
Shima digs in a right hook to McColgan's body.  Shima clinches his opponent.  Shima pushes his forearm into McColgan's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Shima to stop fouling.  
Shima lands a left hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Shima is on target with a stinging left hook.  
Shima lands a right hook.

McColgan is looking to keep his distance and is on target with a cross.

Shima lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Shima lands a jab.  
McColgan attempts to land a jab, but Shima slips the shot and counters with a stinging right uppercut.  
McColgan manouvers Shima onto the ropes.  Shima finds the target with a sharp jab.  
Shima gets on the inside and is on target with a right hook.  
Shima is on target with a right hook.  
McColgan steps away from his opponent and lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Shima walks his opponent down, trapping him in a corner.  Shima lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  McColgan almost instantly recovers. 
Shima sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the head, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the body.  
McColgan throws a right hook, but Shima ties up his opponent.  Shima leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  
McColgan throws a right hook, but Shima clinches his opponent.  Shima is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Shima's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Shima is on target with a solid right uppercut to his opponents ribcage.  MCCOLGAN IS HURT!  McColgan quickly recovers. 
McColgan sidesteps to the right of his opponent, but Shima is on target with a firm right hook to his opponents ribs.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...McColgan's trainer is telling his fighter he must go to war on his opponent!

Shima leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. McColgan pushes his forearm into Shima's face.  The referee warns McColgan and breaks the clinch.  
Shima stalks his opponent...he just needs the right shot to put his opponent away!  Shima crashes a big left hook to McColgan's ribs.  MCCOLGAN IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  McColgan now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Shima is on target with a left hook to McColgan's liver.  
Shima lands a right uppercut to the body, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Shima is on target with a stinging left hook to his opponents liver.  
Shima digs in a sharp right uppercut to McColgan's ribs.  
Shima is on target with a left uppercut.  
McColgan steps away from his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Shima hits home with a sharp right hook.  
McColgan lands a sharp jab.  McColgan throws a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a firm cross.  
Shima gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Shima steps inside and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  He then lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Shima is looking to close the distance and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body, AND KNOCKS MCCOLGAN DOWN!  He tries to rise but his legs dont respond...the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Shima!
