James Groves vs John Erwin

Boxing Daily Report from the Australia National Finals 2027,  taking place on 11/03/2027 from Gold Coast, Australia:

The Gold Coast venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have a Quarter Final fight in the Light Flyweight divison.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 3 round matchup are James Groves (24(2) - 19) who hails from Gold Coast, Australia and John Erwin(36 - 13) from Melbourne, Australia.  

Round 1: 

Groves voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Erwin steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.

Groves steps inside and is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Groves steps inside and digs in a right hook to his opponents body.  
Groves switches the action to the outside and lands a jab, overhand left and an overhand right to his opponents head.  
Groves steps inside.  Erwin pivots from in front of his opponent, but Groves is on target with a right hook to Erwin's ribcage.
